We found ourselves in need of a water connection and promptly sought assistance from Anglian Water. Initially, it seemed we would require a pipe running 300 metres around the field to reach the main connection (as you can see in the diagram). However, upon chatting with the farmer, we learned that there was already a pipe running across the field to the farm. The downside was that the water pressure from this pipe was rather low and it would necessitate sharing the supply with the farm.
During this process, we also received a quote for installing our own borehole, which came to £18,000 including equipment. However, we felt that this upfront cost was quite substantial, and we were also apprehensive about having to ensure the water quality and proper functioning of the filtering system ourselves.
In a splendid stroke of luck, our neighbours, who had previously installed a borehole for their water supply, generously offered to move all their connections to the borehole and let us take over their existing pipe. This generous gesture solved our water connection problem without the need for a lengthy new installation or the hefty expense of a borehole.
